NBA Free Agency 2010

On July 1st the NBA will enter the Free Agency Period. This year's free agent market will be one of the most notable in recent memory. My predictions for the players are as following: LeBron James-He will leave his hometown of Cleveland for the Chicago Bulls Dwayne Wade-He will leave the glorious Miami for his hometown of Chicago. Chris Bosh- He will end up on the Chicago Bulls in a Sign and Trade. LeBron,Wade and Bosh will all sign somewhere together whether it's Chicago or Miami. Dirk Nowitzki-He will remain in Dallas under Mark Cuban. Paul Pierce-He will remain in Boston. Joe Johnson-He will leave for the Big Apple to play for the Knicks. Amare Stoudamire-He will join Joe Johnson in the Big Apple. Ray Allen-He will remain in Boston along with Pierce. Shaquille O'Neal-He will sign with the Clippers so he will be able to challenge Kobe in his city. Allen Iverson-He will not be signed in the NBA and end up in Greece. Tracy McGrady-He will also end up in a foreign nation. The Bulls or Heat (whichever team gets LeBron,Wade and Bosh) will be my early favorite to win the 2010-11 NBA Title.

Stanley Cup and NBA Finals Predictions

I think the Boston Celtics will continue this improbable run and upset the lengthy Lakers. If they put Paul Pierce on Kobe Bryant then the Celtics can shut him down like they did with that matchup in 2008. In the Stanley Cup I hope that the Philadelphia Flyers upset the Philadelphia Flyers so that Marian Hossa will go 0 for 3 in 3 years with 3 teams in the Stanley Cup.

Michigan's Self-Imposed Sanctions

Yesterday Michigan announced that they have cheated over the last few seasons. Michigan said that they practiced longer than they were allowed to during the summer. Today on the way to school I was listening to The HUGE Show on the radio and HUGE said something like," Michigan yesterday said that they practiced about 63 hours more than allowed. To me that is like getting a speeding ticket for going 70 in a 60 zone or getting a parking ticket." Well I have no clue what HUGE is saying. Cheating is cheating. Also, Michigan cheated and they still didn't win. In the Rich-Rod Era they are 8-16 with zero bowl appearances and an 1-5 record against rivals (Notre Dame,Michigan State and Ohio State) The Rich-Rod era has been a complete disaster for Michigan fans. They were immediately expecting National Championships and instead are just hoping that they will get a .500 record so that they are bowl eligible. It is awesome as a Michigan State Spartan fan that now Michigan State is becoming the best team in the state over the last two years. I am hoping that the NCAA will give Michigan some actual penalties not just making them cut practice hours. If you cheat in the real world you have to pay the price so you should also in the football world.

NBA Game 6 and LeBron

Last night, the Boston Celtics defeated the Cavaliers in Game 6 to eliminate the Cavs. That game could be the last game for LeBron in a Cavs uniform. Now the Celtics will play the Magic in the Conference Finals. I am going to say that the Celtics will continue this run and defeat the Magic on their way to the NBA title game against the very tall and lengthy Lakers who I think will defeat the not so lengthy Suns. The NBA playoffs aren't even the biggest national story of the playoffs covered today. Every single person is now focused on where LeBron James will go instead of focusing on the Playoffs. So I am going to make a prediction where LeBron will end up. Michael Wilbon and Bob Ryan on PTI said that most people are thinking New Jersey,New York,LA Clippers,Miami and even staying in Cleveland. I believe that LeBron's decision will be going to either Miami and joining his fellow Olympic teammate Dwayne Wade to make an amazing duo that could contend for the title or he will end up in New Jersey because he could be lured to new owner Mikhail Prokhorov the Russian billionaire who just acquired the worst team in the NBA, the New Jersey Nets who have a 25.0% chance of receiving the first pick which many think will be the Kentucky point guard John Wall. Those two along with players such as Devin Harris could restore the worst team to be successful. So I think LeBron will most likely go to New Jersey if he is going for money but if he is wanting to win then Miami is the choice for him.

NASCAR and NBA Playoffs

Today I met a very interesting person,Brenda Benedict, a NASCAR sports writer for insiderracingnews.com. She informed me on not only how to be a better sports writer but also about NASCAR. I learned that NASCAR is run by a family and they are very Christian and before each race, there is always a prayer. I thought that was really neat. The NBA Playoffs are wrapping up the conference semifinals with Game 6 in Boston with the Celtics leading the Cavaliers 3-2. The Celtics who have won 16 NBA Championships steamrolled over the championshipless Cavaliers by 32 in Game 5. Historically, in Game 6 of the NBA Conference Semifinals the Celtics have beaten the Cavaliers in Game 6 both times by an average of 18 points. The Celtics have hosted both of the previous games. Personally, I hope that the Celtics win tonight. Tonight could possibly be the last game for LeBron James in a Cleveland uniform. It is on at 8pm ET on ESPN.

Big Ten Expansion

The Big Ten is talking all about expansion. Why don't they just announce expansion plans already??? It drives me crazy waiting for the plan they are coming up with. I have heard PITT,Syracuse,Rutgers,Mizzu,Texas,Nebraska,Notre Dame and UCONN just to start. So many ideas out there. I personally think that the Big Ten should expand to 16 teams by adding Texas,Oklahoma,Texas Tech,PITT and Syracuse. It not only makes your football conference gain even more national exposure with all of these College Gameday primetime games but now the Big Ten Network would be a major network in not only the Midwest but now major markets such as Dallas and New York. Also, it boosts your basketball conference by adding teams that all made some kind of postseason this year. It adds depth to an already power basketball conference. I would like to know your ideas on what you believe the Big Ten should do in expansion or if they should remove teams or stay the same. The College Basketball Tournament I am working on setting up is almost finished. Probably about Monday will it begin.

NBA Playoffs

Last night my predictions fell to 3-5. The Milwaukee Bucks were throttled by the Hawks last night. Brandon Jennings scored 15 but that was not enough nor did he get enough help from his supporting cast. The Bucks had a good season this year and best of luck to them next year. They need to add more firepower this offseason. Brandon Jennings can not carry them all the way because he is too young . They need a veteran scorer either Shaquille O'Neal (even though they might not have the cash for the big salary) or even possibly someone such as Grant Hill or Carlos Boozer. There are plenty of opportunities for the Bucks to add a spark to help Jennings in the offense. Since all the matchups for the Conference Semifinals are set I will now make my predictions. I am going to pick the Cavaliers over the Celtics in 6. The Magic over the Hawks in 5. The Lakers over the Jazz in 5. Lastly, I am going to say that the Spurs will continue the improbable run they have put on by beating the Suns in 7. I am soon going to be starting a tournament of NCAA teams based on historical data. Probably with in the next week.

NBA Playoffs Predictions

Well my NBA Playoff predictions were about half right so far. In the Eastern Conference I picked the Cavs,Celtics,Magic and Bucks. Well the Cavs, Celtics and Magic have advanced so I am 3 for 3 so far. I am hoping than Brandon Jennings has a big game so that I will be 4 for 4 in the Eastern Conference. The Western Conference on the other hand was horrendous. I picked the Thunder to upset the Lakers which did not happen. I picked the Spurs to beat the Mavericks which actually happened. I picked the Blazers to beat the Suns which did not happen either. And then I picked the Nuggets to beat the Jazz which also did not happen. So All in all I went 3 for 7 with one series left. NBA Eastern Conference Playoffs April 27

Last night, the Eastern Conference had two more teams advance to the Conference Semifinals. The Cleveland Cavaliers beat the Bulls last night to win the series 4-1. It was a surprising move by Derrick Rose down the stretch when the Bulls trailed by three to drive the lane and go up with the left. That one just fit the situation. If you have 20 seconds or so shoot a three and if you miss get the rebound and go up. Or you can either get it down low to the little post presence the Bulls have or get a mid-range jumper. Nobody expected to see the Bulls win the series so no surprise there. But one thing that is surprising and is worrying some Cavs fans is the health of LeBron James' elbow. It is a minor sprain or something worse? I never have showed support to the Cavs and honestly I was more hoping that the Bulls would win this series but I hope that LeBron can return in time to make the postseason more interesting. The Boston Celtics last night advanced to the next round behind Ray Allen's 24 points and Paul Pierce threw in 21. Every starter in the lineup for Boston had double figures except Kendrick Perkins. Throw that all together and consider the 20 point lead they had in the third quarter and that makes for a pretty good ball game for Boston. So all in all, the Celtics and Cavaliers join the Magic in the Conference Semifinals. Tonight the Bucks and the Hawks square off with the series deadlocked at two. Lastly in the Western Conference tonight, my wishes go out to the Denver Nuggets as I hope they win so that Coach Karl can coach them before the season is done.
